[Ru] География не просто дает материю переменных местностей для истории как формы. Подобно пейзажу, она оказывается не только географией природы и человека, но и географией ума. Она отрывает историю от культа закономерности, давая проявиться фактору ни к чему не сводимой случайности.

Делез и Гваттари

Когда Витгенштейн писал «о чем невозможно говорить, о том следует молчать», он вряд ли имел в виду художников, поэтов и музыкантов, которые все время силятся создать новый язык, призванный помочь совершить перевод одного в другое, передать непередаваемое. Как прочувствовать боль земли, испещренной язвами и шрамами катастроф и жизнедеятельностью человека, нашедшего в ней свое пристанище? Земля хранит память границ и поколений, которые как те же язвы или шрамы возвещают о ее истории. Что, если бы у земли появился специальный орган, который позволил бы земле говорить или петь?

В теории глоттогенеза — о происхождении, формировании и становлении человеческого языка — существует множество гипотез, конструирующих первосцену говорения и появления системы передачи информации и символических знаков. Некоторые ученые отстаивали естественный, природный характер языка, основанного на подражании; другие говорили о его искусственном возникновении, учрежденном договором. Пришедшая им на смену гипотеза о языке как средстве оптимизации человеческой деятельности не столь изящна, но подчеркивает эволюционный характер антропогенеза, стремящегося к постоянному усложнению. Доказать эти гипотезы практически невозможно, но ничто не мешает помыслить этот языковой Рубикон, тем более, что каждый ребенок проходит путь от полного неумения пользоваться языком до овладения им в совершенстве.

Авангардисты начала XX века, почувствовав несовместимость старых ценностей и предчувствия нового мира, совершили радикальный отказ от былого языка якобы просвещенной, но репрессивной цивилизации, основанной на крови. Футуристическая заумь или возвращение к детскому лепету «дада» первыми стояли на пороге этого Рубикона, подготовленного тотальным обнулением культуры. Каноническое произведение Курта Швиттерса «Урсоната» (приставка «-ур» здесь как раз означает «-перво») в этом смысле является идеальным примером моделирования ситуации глоттогенеза, в котором сам звук превращается в новый язык, раскрывающий свою медиумспецифичность. Значит, эксперименты возможны. Но что будет, если создать все условия для глоттогенеза как топологической метафоры?

В человеческой гортани есть так называемые ложные или вестибулярные (от лат. vestibulum — «преддверие») голосовые связки — складки ее слизистой оболочки, которые не участвуют в производстве фонем, но защищают основные голосовые мышцы. Эти связки, в частности, могут взять на себя голосовую функцию после травмы органов гортани. Например, тибетское горловое пение, в котором также участвует ложная голосовая связка, выражает самое дрожь земли, сонастраиваясь с вибрацией ее постоянного движения. Основной тон такого экстремального вокала нашел свое воплощение в дроне (англ. drone — «гудение, гул, жужжание») — современном академическом или экспериментальном минимализме, который также выражает протест против привычных музыкальных конвенций. В ситуации, когда язык уже не отвечает требованиям времени и нем, само время алчет создать новый.

Ложная голосовая связка, которой наделяется земельный ландшафт — это сигнатура глоттогенеза. Такая антропоморфизация земли напоминает миф о ее происхождении. Согласно китайской мифологии, землю и небо (Инь и Ян) разделил своим топором Пань-гу — прачеловек, возникший из вселенского яйца, плавающего в океане бесформенного хаоса. Пань-гу каждый день отталкивал небо от земли, а когда удостоверился, что они не соединятся, умер. «Дыхание Пань-гу стало ветром, голос — громом, левый глаз — солнцем, правый глаз — луной. Руки и ноги образовали четыре стороны света, туловище — землю, из крови возникли реки, из вен — дороги, из волос — звезды, растения, деревья, из зубов и костей — металл, из костного мозга — нефрит». Быть может, такая тотальная антропоморфизация могла бы помочь посмотреть на землю как на друга или другого, равного нам?

Буквализация процесса земельного говорения на самом деле отсылает к заявленным скрытым категориям или криптотипам — неявным семантическим или синтаксическим признакам слов и словосочетаний, не находящих явного выражения, но оказывающих влияние на сочетаемость слов в предложении. Криптотип влияет на комбинационную силу слов, а его восприятие, проще говоря, зависит от умения писать и читать между строк. Даже если земля по каким-то причинам не говорит прямо, ее ландшафт и «анатомические» схемы — это тот же язык, требующий расшифровки. Скрытые категории всегда уже даны и оказывают на нас влияние: намеками, погодой, тряской земля говорит, поет и кричит громче, чем нам кажется на первый взгляд.

Делез и Гваттари обращают внимание на важное и нам различение земли как οἶκος, то есть дома или пристанища человека, и земли как γη — детерриторизованной par excellence, то есть земли, освобожденной от любой территории, в том числе и территории самой земли. В общем, земли в высшей степени абстрактной. Для проявления ее самости — детерриторизации, т.е. метафорического «ухода с оседлой территории» — важен постоянный переход (или перевод) из одного состояния в другое, что и является логикой самой жизни.

Лишь в этом переходе земля раскрывается не как неповоротливый гиперобъект, а как земля возможная, земля живая, земля, способная говорить или звучать. Язык же (в том числе язык искусства) — это посредник и переводчик, в чьи задачи входит передача слов, вырванных из одной почвы и пересаженных в другую. Каждый такой перевод — это акт усилия, помноженного на чудо (например, возникновение философии на земле Древней Греции Делез и Гваттари называют форменным чудом). Земля чревата языком, а друг или другой, который может его услышать — сама возможность нового как фактора ни к чему не сводимой случайности. Скрытые категории — в метафорическом ускользании смысла и одновременном его конституировании — это горловая мантра, поющая о чуде. Все зависит лишь от того, сможем ли мы ее расслышать.

Wittgenstein’s famous thesis “Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent” hardly refers to artists, poets, and musicians, who are always trying to create a new language to help translate one thing into another, to convey the ineffable. How to experience the pain of the earth riddled with the sores and scars of catastrophe and the activities of man who has found his shelter in it? The earth holds the memory of borders and generations, which, like the same sores or scars, speak of its history. What if the earth had a special organ that would allow the earth to speak or sing?

The theory of glottogenesis (on the origin, formation and development of human language) has a number of hypotheses how the first scenes of speaking took place. It also speculates on the emergence of the information transmission system and symbolic signs. Some scholars have argued for the natural character of language, based on imitation; others have spoken of its artificial emergence, established by treaty. Today, these theories are replaced by the hypothesis of language as a means of optimizing human activity. It is less elegant, but it emphasizes the evolutionary nature of anthropogenesis, which strives for constant complication. It is almost impossible to prove these hypotheses, but nothing prevents us from imagining this linguistic Rubicon. Especially since every child progresses from complete inability to use the language to mastering it perfectly.

The avant-gardists of the early 20th century, recognized the incompatibility of old values and a premonition of a new world. They radically rejected the former language of a supposedly enlightened but repressive civilization based on blood. Futuristic zanyness or a return to the childish babble of Dada were the first to stand on the threshold of this Rubicon prepared by the total nullification of culture. Kurt Schwitters's canonical work Ursonate (note, that the prefix -ur here means -first) is in this sense a perfect example of modeling a situation of glottogenesis. This is where the sound itself is transformed into a new language that reveals its medium-specificity. Hence, experimentation is possible. But what happens if we create all conditions for glottogenesis as a topological metaphor?

In the human larynx, there are so-called false or vestibular (from Latin vestibulum – entrance) vocal cords. Those are folds of mucous membrane, which do not participate in phoneme production, but protect the main vocal muscles. In some cases, these ligaments may take over the vocal function after trauma to the laryngeal organs. For example, Tibetan throat singing, which also involves a false vocal cord, expresses the very tremor of the earth, getting attuned to the vibration of its constant movement. The basic tone of such extreme vocals has found its embodiment in a drone (note, that drone is synonymous with humming), a modern academic or experimental minimalism that also expresses a protest against the usual conventions of music. When the language no longer meets the requirements of time, time itself is eager to create a new one.

The false vocal cord that the earth's landscape is endowed with is the signature of glottogenesis. Such an anthropomorphization of the earth reminds us of the myth of its origin. According to Chinese mythology, the earth and the sky (Yin and Yang) were divided with his axe by Pangu. Pangu is a primordial being who emerged from the universal egg floating in the ocean of formless chaos. Every day Pangu pushed heaven away from earth, and when he made sure they wouldn't join, he died. “His breath became the wind, mist and clouds; his voice, thunder; his left eye, the Sun; his right eye, the Moon; his head, the mountains and extremes of the world; his blood, rivers; his muscles, fertile land; his facial hair, the stars and Milky Way; his fur, bushes and forests; his bones, valuable minerals; his bone marrow, precious jewels”. Perhaps such a total anthropomorphization could help us look at the earth as a friend or another equal to us?

The literalization of the process of the earth's speaking actually refers to the stated hidden categories or cryptotypes. Those are implicit semantic or syntactic features of words and word combinations. They are not explicitly expressed, but they influence the compatibility of words in a sentence. Cryptotype influences the combinative power of words. Whether one can perceive it depends on one's ability to write and read between the lines. Even if the earth for some reason does not speak directly, its landscape and "anatomical" patterns are still the language that requires decoding. Hidden categories are always already given and influence us. Through hints, weather, and shaking, the earth speaks, sings, and shouts louder than we realize.

Deleuze and Guattari point out the important distinction between earth as οἶκος, i.e. home or shelter of humans, and earth as γη, deterritorialized par excellence, that is, earth stripped of any territory, including that of the land itself. In short, this is idea of earth in the highest degree of abstraction. To manifest the identity of earth-deterritorialization, the metaphorical “withdrawal from settled territory” it is important to constantly move (or transfer) from one state to another. This is the logic of life itself.

It is only in this transfer that the earth is revealed not as a clumsy hyper-object, but as a conceivable earth, a living earth, an earth capable of speaking or sounding. Language (including the language of art) is a mediator and a translator, whose task is to transmit words plucked from one soil and transplanted into another. Each translation is an effort multiplied by a miracle (for example, Deleuze and Guattari call the emergence of philosophy in the land of ancient Greece a formidable miracle). The earth is fraught with language. The friend or the Other who hears it becomes the very possibility of the new as a factor of irreducible contingency. Hidden categories – in the metaphorical elimination of meaning and its simultaneous constitution – are a throaty mantra, singing of wonder. It only depends on whether we can hear it.
